Police believe they have confiscated a van they say was involved in an attempted abduction Tuesday morning in West Toledo.
A white van that fit the description given to police by a 17-year-old female was pulled over in North Toledo Thursday afternoon. The driver, who was driving on a suspended license, was taken into police custody for questioning. He has since been released while prosecutors discuss potential charges.
The van is said to be the same van use in the latest incident of stranger danger in the Toledo-area. According to police, the Horizon Academy student was walking in the 2600-block of W. Sylvania Ave. around 10 a.m. Tuesday when she was approached by a man in the van. The man told her to get in, but she refused and called police.
In the past two weeks, an eighth grade student at DeVeaux Middle School and a 15-year-old girl walking down California Boulevard reported men trying to lure them into vehicles in two separate incidents.
Police have not said whether or not they believe the cases are related, but the suspects in each incident have been described as different people by the victims.
