Vessel leaks fuel into Maumee River after dock crash

Around one to two liters of fuel leaked into the Maumee River on Tuesday.

Marine Safety Unit officials confirm that a Canadian-flag commercial vessel leaked fuel into the Maumee River after backing into a dock on Tuesday morning.

According to the MSU Toledo representative, the vessel was backing into the slip at the CSX Transportation Torco Docks and bumped the peer, damaging the back of the vessel.

The fuel tank was contained after leaking an estimated one to two liters into the river. Ohio EPA is working with officials to assess the potential damage to the environment.
