Volunteers prepare Thanksgiving meals

Before the Cherry Street Mission volunteers sat down to their own Thanksgiving dinners, they prepared meals for less fortunate individuals.

Cherry Street Mission teamed with the Real Seafood Company to serve more than one thousand people.

Darrick Jones of Toledo was one of the guests.

â??Iâ??m so full right now, all I want to do is watch football and go to sleep,â?? Jones said. â??God bless.â??

On Thanksgiving morning, volunteers delivered about 850 meals across the area. Then they served plates at the restaurant until about 4 p.m.

Charles Allen is the Vice President of Programs for Cherry Street Mission.

â??For some people, this is the first time theyâ??ve ever been in a restaurant where theyâ??ve been served,â?? Allen said. â??To be able to see a smile on their face and see them enjoying themselvesâ?¦today is just very important for us to see that.â??
