Voters narrow mayoral field in primary
TOLEDO, Ohio (WNWO) —
On Tuesday night, voters decided incumbent mayor Paula Hicks-Hudson and Wade Kapszukiewicz will square off in the November election.
Mayor Hicks-Hudson received 9,686 votes in Tuesday night’s primary.
Kapszukiewicz received a total of 8,350. Just shy of 25,000 votes were cast.
Two other candidates won’t continue on to the November ballot.
Councilman Tom Waniewski came in third with Toledo voters with 6,659 votes.
Perennial mayoral candidate Opal Covey garnered just 199 votes.
Voters also decided which of the 13 Toledo City Council at-large candidates would not be on the ballot for the 6 open seats.
Thomas Names was eliminated by voters, with just 2.949 votes.
