Walls come down on Toledo sporting tradition

A Toledo landmark met the wrecking ball Monday as the walls of Imperial Lanes came down.

Demolition began on the nearly half-century old building on the corner of Reynolds Rd. and Central Ave.

Bowling became a Toledo sporting tradition at Imperial since the building opened 46-years ago.

The nationally-known bowling alley was home to many PBA events and championships. The PBA's top tournament was held at the venue from 1981 to 1998.

ProMedica Health Systems, which has purchased the existing land from Imperial owner Darrell Ducat, plans to begin construction of a new building once demolition is complete.
