Wanted fugitive flees scene in a mini van

The Northwood Police Department has issued arrest warrants for a man they believe was behind an aggravated burglary and arson case.

A witness identified 19-year-old Xzavier Matthews as the man who confronted him after finding a home on Curtice Road ransacked and set ablaze.

The victim discovered the scene about just after 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday morning.

After allegedly pointing a black semi-automatic handgun at the victim, Matthews fled the area in a white mini-van.

The getaway vehicle was discovered by Toledo Police, later in the day, along Mason and Main streets.

Matthews has prior arrests for burglary and receiving stolen property, so authorities already have recent pictures of the suspect.

Officials say he has a distinctive look , he wears his hair in dreadlocks and has gold teeth.

He is described as being almost 6 feet tall and weighs around 170 pounds.

If you have information on Matthews whereabouts you are asked to call Northwood Police at 419-691-5053 or Wood County Crimestoppers 419-352-0077.
