We're lookin' good today through early afternoon as a healthy southerly breeze delivers another dose of warm air. A cold front makes for a stormy late afternoon and evening. The weekend will be much cooler as fall offiicially arrives Sunday afternoon.
Clouds will be in the increase through mid-afternoon as warm humid air streams into the region in advance of a powerful cold front. High temps will again climb into the lower 80's before widespread showers and isolated thunderstorms rumble in during the mid to late afternoon hours. Some of these storms will deliver locally heavy rain and some powerful wind gusts - so batten down the hatches... bring in those garbage cans, secure that grill on the back deck before the rains arrive. The showers and storms will continue through the evening before tapering to showers overnight.
Saturday will start out cloudy and damp and cooler so be prepared to dress appropriately for those early morning soccer game and tee-times. By the afternoon skies will begin to clear and a healthy north wind ushers in a cooler airmass. Highs Saturday, under partly cloudy skies, won't be topping 70 degrees.
Sunday is my pick of the weekend with tons of sunshine and cooler highs in the mid 60's... a fitting first day to fall 2013.
Get ready to trade those sorts and flip-flops for the jeans and sweathshirts.
