Warming up, then getting wet
Wed, 18 Sep 2013 13:43:45 GMT —
Clouds can forecast what's happening weatherwise and today is no exception as a warm front slides across the region, warming us up and delivering high cirrus clouds and periods of filtered sunshine. Highs will be a full 10 degrees warmer than yesterday and finally get above our normal high (75) - into the upper 70's. Feel free to drag those T's, shorts and flip-flops back out and sport them today, tomorrow and Friday!
Warm air will continue to stream into the region through Friday in advance of a cold front which will cool us down into the weekend. Highs Thursday and Friday will stretch into the low and mid 80's, the trade-off will be an increasing chance of scattered showers and isolated t'storms. Thursday will offer hit and miss t'showers which will become more prevalent Friday and widespread as the cold front moves in Friday evening. The rains will become widespread Friday night and we'll likely see a line of thunderstorms with some locally heavy rain Friday night. The good news about the showers: it will green up our lawns which are getting a little fried and it looks like the rain is for the most part out of here for most of the weekend.
Clouds may linger the first half of the day Saturday but by afternoon we'll see Canadian high pressure clear skies out and give us some plentiful sunshine Saturday afternoon and throughout the day Sunday. The weekend will be markedly cooler this highs near 70 degrees Saturday and Sunday.
Enjoy the warmth the next few days has to offer and make plans to be outside donning those sweatshirts and jeans for the upcoming weekend. It is football season after all!
