Water advisory issued for parts of Maumee River as algae bloom persists
TOLEDO, Ohio (WNWO) —
The Toledo-Lucas County Health department has issued a recreational public health advisory in response to the algal bloom on the Maumee river.
The bloom extends from Promenade Park downtown to Cullen Park.
They say swimming and wading in the Maumee River is not recommended for children, pregnant or nursing women, pets, or those with certain medical conditions.
Advisory signs will be posted along the Maumee River at various access points.
The Health Department stresses that this has no effect on Toledo’s tap water, and the water is still safe to drink.
