Officials in Erie County say a mother was found dead inside her home early Saturday morning after a small fire broke out in a bedroom.

Lisa Cruse, 38, died of what authorities believe was smoke inhalation. Firefighters found Cruse's body in a bedroom inside her Perkins Township home around 7:00 a.m. Saturday.

Authorities say a newspaper delivery person called police after noticing smoke coming from the small home at 222 Dixie Avenue. When firefighters arrived they saw smoke pouring out from the home, though there were no visible flames. Firefighters found Cruse's body inside a front bedroom where the fire had been extinguished.

Authorities also found the body of a brown Ladbrador retreiver inside the home.

The State Fire Marshal's office will investigate the exact cause of the fire. Authorities do not believe the fire to be suspicious.
