Woman hurt in S.R. 2 crash with teen driver

An Oak Harbor woman was critically injured in a car crash on State Route 2 near State Route 579 on Sunday night.

According to the Sandusky Post of the Ohio State Highway Patrol, 28-year-old Katie Katich was driving eastbound on S.R. 2 when she hit a vehicle that failed to yield the right of way at a stop sign while making a left turn off S.R. 579.

Troopers report Katich was flown to an area hospital with life-threatening injuries. She was not wearing a seat belt at the time of the crash.

The other driver, 18-year-old Adam Lay, was transported to an Oregon hospital with non-life threatening injuries. According to the release, Lay was wearing a seat belt at the time of the crash.

The incident is still under investigation. No citations have been issued and troopers do not believe alcohol was a factor in the crash.
