Woman pleads guilty to faking cancer diagnosis for funds

Kimberlie Gustwiller, 38, is facing theft charges for claiming to have cancer and accepting donations.

A North Baltimore woman faces three years behind bars for faking a cancer diagnosis to cash in on the generosity of others.

39-year-old Kimberlie Gustwiller pleaded guilty to a third degree felony count of theft on Wednesday.

Gustwiller collected nearly $9,000 dollars in donations in September after claiming she had Stage IV Non-Hodgkin Lymphoma.

Her sentencing is scheduled for July.
