Wood County Sheriff Mark Wasylyshyn was sworn in to another term on Sunday at the inauguration ceremony in Grand Rapids.
Wasylyshyn was joined by a crowd of about 100 colleagues, friends and family at the brunch and ceremony at Nazareth Hall. Wasylyshyn was first voted Wood County Sheriff in 2004, and now begins his third term in the position.
"It's a great challenge and I'm very honored to be the Sheriff of Wood County," said Wasylyshyn.
Wasylyshyn placed his hand on the Bible as he was sworn in by Wood County Judge Robert Pollex. He later addressed the crowd about the future of the department, including new ways the Wood County Sheriff's plan to implement technology to better protect the community.
"There will always be more to do, we can always do things better, and we can always do more," said Wasylyshyn. "I'm challenging my staff and my deputies to continue to improve."
Wasylyshyn also noted accomplishments from 2012 that included successful prostitution stings and healthy living conditions at the county jail.
