Wood County Sheriff's cruiser t-boned, deputy rescued from vehicle

A witness says the cruiser flipped 3 times before coming to a stop.

The Ohio State Highway Patrol re-opened State Route 281, north of Jerry City, late Wednesday, after a two-vehicle crash involving a Wood County Sheriff's deputy.

A witness told WNWO that around 7:30 p.m., a female driver t-boned the deputy's cruiser near the intersection of Huffman Road and 281.

The witness added that the impact from the crash flipped the cruiser and damaged it so badly that rescue crews were forced to cut the deputy out of the cruiser.

The deputy, who has not been identified, was taken by Life Flight to a Toledo hospital for treatment.

There is no word on the severity of the injuries sustained by the other driver involved, but that person was also taken to a local hospital.
