Woodland Elementary kids build reading skills and sundae's

Build your own sundae.

Woodland Elementary School is throwing a ice cream sundae party today. The students at Woodland took part in a summer reading program and had to keep a reading calendar to show they did the required reading over the summer break.

Now it's time for the two teachers Nancy Hart and Molly Haschak to pay up with lots of ice cream. The teacher said that they needed to find interesting way's to motivate the kids to read over the summer, so they came up with the build your own mini sundae.

Over 75 kids finished the reading and turned in the reading calendar. They had so many calendars turned in that they had to have two shifts of building mini sundae's. As you can see in the following video the kids seemed to enjoy the ice cream!
