Wounded soldier returns home to Toledo

A large throng of family, friends and veterans were at Toledo Express Airport this morning to welcome home US Army Private First Class Stephanie Morris. Morris was seriously injured when her convoy was attacked by the Taliban on June 18. "We had others that were killed in action and it could easily have been me; the story could have been flipped around," PFC Morris said. Morris suffered a broken left leg and broken right foot. "I have had 14 surgeries so far and I have to have more surgeries because they want the hole in my foot to close because I still don't have full feeling in my foot," PFC Morris said.

After landing at the airport a caravan comprised of the Toledo Buffalo Soldiers Motorcycle Club, the Patriot Guard and the Lucas County Sheriff's Dept. led Morris and her family to the Sultan Club where a reception was held in her honor. Morris' mother Relda Bates was happy to have her daughter home. "We are blessed, we are truly blessed," Mrs. Bates said.
