Wrong-way crash survivors making progress

Kayla Somoles (left) and Angelica Mormile are recovering from their injuries.

The families of the two BGSU students who survived the March 2 wrong-way crash have released an update about their recovery progress.

Kayla Somoles and Angelica Mormile, both 19, were released from the hospital this week after sustaining critical injuries in the crash that took the lives of their three Alpha Xi Delta sorority sisters.

Somoles' family said: "Kayla was released from Mercy St. Vincent Hospital in Toledo Monday. She was transferred to a rehabilitation hospital in Sylvania. She is making amazing progress, and her attitude has been positive. She is really looking forward to getting back to BGSU as soon as possible."

Mormile's family said: "For the rest of the students at BGSU, Angelica's condition is improving each day. She was transferred back to the Cleveland area so she could receive medical care and be closer to home. Please continue to pray for Angelica, so she can return to her BGSU family."

BGSU will hold a memorial service for Rebekah Blakkolb, Christina Goyett and Sarah Hammond on Friday evening.
