Wyandot Co. text message scam claims debit card is deactivated

Beware of a new texting scam in Wyandot County--Authorities say the text message tricks the receiver into thinking their bank has deactivated their debit card.
The message is sent from the number (419)-819-9164 and reads: "The First Citizens NB Alert: Your debit/card starting with 4479 has been deactivated. Please call (419)-617-0811."
According to the news release, authorities believe the text message scam was sent to the number blocks of (419)-310-XXXX and (419)-689-XXXX. If you received the text and gave information to the sender, you are advsied to visit www.firstcitizensnational.com or contact your local banking office. If you did not give information, you are advised to ignore the text.
The Wyandot County Sheriff's Office made contact with AT&T to get information about the number's owner, but an investigation revealed the number was spoofed from a computer at an unknown location. There is no one in custody at this time.
