Young female's body found in Lake Erie

Viola and Jonathan Francis

Authorities have confirmed that a second body has been recovered from Lake Erie.

They say it's that of Jonathan Francis. The 30-year-old had been missing since going on a kayaking trip with his daughter on April 6th.

His body was recovered near the breakwall at Cedar Point.

Tattoo and jewelry helped identify the remains.

The U.S. Coast Guard says the body of a young female has been found in Lake Erie.

The Coast Guard Station at Marblehead received a call about 11 this morning about a body floating in the lake.

It was brought to shore and turned over to the Erie County Coroner.

The Sheriff's Department believes the body is that of 12 year old Viola Francis.

They say clothing and jewelry on the body matches what the girl was wearing when she and her dad went missing after a kayaking trip in Sandusky Bay on April 6.

The kayaks washed ashore in Ottawa County the next day.

Jonathan Francis' body has not yet been recovered.
