Entire family arrested in connection to rape of 10-year-old girl

Six grown brothers charged with abusing girl over 10 years in North Carolina, parents accused of ignoring it.

Six adult men - who are brothers - and their parents are under arrest in North Carolina, charged with multiple counts of sexually abusing a child over a 10-year period.

The arrests came more than a year after the eldest brother came forward and confessed, at the urging of his church elder.

27-year-old Eric Jackson and his five brothers, 25-year-old Jon, 23-year-old Matthew, 21-year-old Nathaniel, 19-year-old Benjamin, and 18-year-old Aaron, were arrested last week after they surrendered to Perquimans County Sheriff's deputies on charges they molested and raped the girl from the time she was four until she was about 14. The girl is now 16 and living in Colorado Springs.

The men's parents, 65-year-old John Jackson and 54-year-old Nita Jackson, also were charged with felony child abuse and released after posting a $15,000 secured bond. Investigators say they were charged because they were aware of the abuse and failed to take action.
