officials say retired General Norman Schwarzkopf has died.
chwarzkopf commanded the U.S. led international coalition that drove Saddam Hussein's forces out of Kuwait during the first Gulf War in 1991.
chwarzkopf was known to the main stream as "
tormin' Norman" due to his explosive temper. He had served in his last military assignment as
commander-in-chief of U.S. central command. Schwarzkopf died in Tampa, Florida, where he lived in retirement. He was 78 years old.
