Lightning strike crashes couple's quiet drive

A couple out for a quiet drive Saturday in Alberta, Canada were interrupted when lightning struck - literally.

Al Perry was out for a drive with his wife, Betty, when the couple's truck was hit by lightning. The couple said it sounded like a sonic boom, but surveillance video recorded the freak event, capturing the second the lightning bolt shot down into the vehicle.

The fireball struck and appeared to engulf the vehicle.

Inside the truck, the airbags deployed. Heat from the lightning strike rippled the truck's metal body and smoke filled the cabin.

The couple was not injured.
