Toledo native dies in military copter crash

A former Toledo resident died when a Black Hawk helicopter crashed near one of Colorado's tallest peaks. Terry Geer, 40, died in the crash, according to the Toledo Blade. Geer was one of four soldiers who died in the crash. He was a 1987 graduate of Whitmer High School in Toledo.

The Black Hawk helicopter crew was out of Fort Campbell, KY. It crashed on Mount Massive, a 14,000 foot peak near Leadville.

The helicopter's flight data recorder has been recovered and an investigation into its cause is underway.

A military spokesman told the Associated Press that the training exercise closely replicated conditions encountered in Afghanistan.
