Jerry Sandusky's lawyer mistakenly touts gay sex hotline

The lawyer for accused child sex abuser Jerry Sandusky may want to think before he tries to make a joke during press conferences. That's because he accidentally touted a gay sex hotline following Sandusky's hearing Tuesday.

Attorney Joseph Amendola says anyone who believes the allegations that university officials thought his client raped a 10-year-old boy and did little about it should call 1-800-Reality.

It turns out the number is a sex line for gay and bi-curious men.

"If anyone is naive enough to think for a minute that Tim Curley, Joe Paterno and Gary Schultz and for that matter Graham Spanier, the university president, were told by Mike Mcqueary that he observed Jerry Sandusky having anal sex with a 10-year-old looking kid in a shower room at Penn State or on Penn State property and their response was simply to tell Jerry Sandusky 'don't go in the shower room anymore with kids' I suggest you dial 1-800-Reality" said Attorney Joseph Amendola on Tuesday.

Amendola's quip came Tuesday after his client Jerry Sandusky waived his preliminary hearing on 52 child sex abuse-related charges.

It outraged some of the accusers and advocates for victims of abuse.

Amendola says he has used that phrase for years to mean "get a life." He vows not to use it again.

Sandusky has pleaded not guilty to all charges.
