A Port Clinton man is dead after a freak accident at his home Wednesday evening.
Police say Jason Vollmar, 33, was working on his car inside his garage at his home at 986 Madison Street. Authorities say the jack gave out and the car fell on top of Vollmar.
Emergency response crews had to use another jack to get the car up and off of Vollmar, but it was too late. He was taken to an area hospital where he was pronounced dead.
Authorities say it is important to have a secondary catch when working underneath any vehicle. Jack stands or heavy timber such as 6-by-6 or 8-by-8 blocks, could be used. Even use a wheel, if necessary.
