Ohio voters delivered a stinging rebuke to Governor John Kasich on Tuesday night when they voted overwhelmingly to repeal Senate Bill 5. Jon Stainbrook, Lucas County Republican Party Chairman, says the fight is not over. "Now we are going to go back to the drawing board and come up with something more refined," Mr. Stainbrook said.
Lucas County Democratic Party Chairman Ron Rothenbuhler, who along with Mr. Stainbrook watched poll workers bring the election results into the Early Voting Center was exultant over the news that Issue 2 had been defeated. "Well I think that tonight's vote sends a message in Ohio and throughout the nation that collectively bargaining is like any negotiating process, you sit down and talk and reasonable people come up with a rational decision," Mr. Rothenbuhler said.
With 94 percent of precincts reporting Issue 2 was defeated by a margin of 61% to 39%.
