It's another sweep for the BG and UT hoops teams

Many fans left Savage Arena and the Stroh Center with smiles on their faces after all four BGSU and UT basketball teams were victorious on Saturday.

The Lady Falcons started off the afternoon by defeating Miami 64-55 and winning the MAC East title outright. A win in their final game would give them yet another MAC regular season championship.

"If you told this team in October we had to play one game for first place...chips in. I'm really, really proud throughout the year that they put themselves in this position to go get the #1 seed," said BG head coach Curt Miller.

Senior Jessica Slagle and junior Chrissy Steffen led the way with 14 points each.

Next up was the Lady Rockets, who won a low scoring battle over Northern Illinois, 49-39. Senior Haylie Linn led with 14.

In the night caps, the BG men upset Kent State, 74-58. It was the 15th victory for the Falcons this season, their most since winning 19 in 2008-09.

Finally, Toledo overcame a second half rally by Western Michigan to win 83-74. Four Rockets scored in double figures.

"Our players stepped up and really answered the bell," said UT head coach Tod Kowalczyk.
