The Toledo Rockets football team has accepted an invitation to play Air Force in the Military Bowl in Washington, D.C. The game will take place on Wednesday December 28th at 4:30pm and will be televised on ESPN.
UT finished the season 8-4 and 7-1 in MAC, and was co-champion of the West Division, losing a tie-breaker to eventual MAC champion Northern Illinois because of a 63-60 loss on November 1st. This will be the 12th bowl game for the school. UT currently has an 8-3 record.
"I think the Military Bowl will provide our student-athletes with a terrific bowl experience in Washington D.C., as weel as the opportunity to play against a very tough Air Force team," said Rockets head coach Tim Beckman. "I'm very proud of this team. This is an excellent reward for all the hard work put in by our players, coaches and everyone involved in the success of our team."
In other bowls, Ohio State will face Florida in the Gator Bowl on January 2nd. It will be Luke Fickell's final game as head coach before Urban Meyer takes over. Meyer coached the Gators from 2005-2010 and defeated the Buckeyes for the 2007 National Championship.
Michigan makes their return to the BCS, going against Virginia Tech in the Allstate Sugar Bowl on January 3rd.
And, in a rematch of the "Game of the Century" , Notre Dame will play Florida State in the Champs Sports Bowl on December 29th.
