Spring football in the air at UT and BG
It may be baseball season, but football took center stage on Friday night at the Glass Bowl.
The Toledo Rockets held their annual Blue-Gold spring game, and for the first time with head coach Matt Campbell. Both teams had 70 yard scores, but in the end Blued prevailed 21-13. Junior running back David Fluellen had a rushing TD and an interception for Blue. Plenty of UT alumni were in attendance including Dallas Cowboys defensive back Barry Church, who was an honorary coach for the Blue Team.
The Bowling Green Falcons held their White vs Orange game in front of a decent crowd at Doyt Perry Stadium. Herve Coby caught a 2-yard touchdown pass from Matt Schilz to put Orange up 7-3 in the second quarter. Another Tyler Tate fieldgoal brought the White within one, but only before a 66 yard touchdown run from Alex Carter put White up 13-7 with 11 to play. Jamel Martin had 98 yards rushing, none bigger than the 19 yard touchdown run he had with 3:51 to play that put the Orange up for good. Orange wins 14-13.
