Eldred Up, Inge Done with Tigers

Brandon Inge was granted his unconditional release from the Detroit Tigers.

After destroying triple-A pitching, Mud Hens slugger Brad Eldred finally got a call-up to the Detroit Tigers.

The move coming after the Tigers were swept by the Mariners, losing on Thursday 5-4.

In a move that wasn't a surprise but still emotional for the club, the Tigers gave veteran Brandon Inge his unconditional release.

Inge, a former Mud Hen made his Tiger debut as a catcher in 2001.

His poor hitting led Detroit to put him on waivers last season, where he went unclaimed and ended up back in Toledo before having a decent post-season with the Tigers.

The 34-year-old thinks he'll catch on with another team but no matter where he goes he wanted Tiger fans to know; "My heart will always be in Detroit."
