Fri, 04 Jul 2014 02:59:07 GMT — TOLEDO-- Mud Hens starting pitcher Derek Hankins allowed just two hits through eight innings during Thursdayâ??s 2-1 win. He got the first two outs of the ninth inning before giving up a two-out double to Tyler Holt, who scored when Jesus Aguilar singled off the left-center field wall a batter later. Hankins left the mound to a standing ovation, and was relieved by Corey Knebel who struck out Giovanny Urshela, the only batter he faced, to end the game.
This is Hankins' fourth win of the season. He threw first-pitch strikes to 21 of the 30 batters he faced. He threw 99 pitches and 68 (68.7 percent) were for strikes.
Toledo is 3-0 so far in the month of July and looks to continue the win streak on the road Friday and Saturday at Columbus, and Sunday through Wednesday in Louisville.
