Opening Day for the Toledo Mud Hens is two weeks away and Fifth Third Field has already rolled out its menu for the upcoming season.
Media was invited to a special sneak preview sampling of the ballpark's newest menu items on Wednesday. Along with the usual hot dogs and burgers, gameday visitors, this year, will find a super-sized 15-scoop Fifth Third Fantastic Freeze Sundae. The frozen monstrosity features five scoops each of three different flavors of your choice, topped with hot fudge, whipped cream, sprinkles, and even cherries on top. The treat is served in a souvenir full-size Mud Hens helmet. The dessert is said to hold nearly 3,000 calories.
Ballpark representatives say the sundae is meant to be shared but those brave few who dare to eat it on their own will have their name displayed on the field's electronic display board.
The ballpark will also serve up a new Frito Chili Pie that features Fritos corn chips topped with chili, cheese, tomatoes and onions. All new wraps, ribs, sandwiches and more are also on the food line-up this season.
The Mud Hens open up the season at Fifth Third Field on Thursday, April 8 at 5:30 p.m when they take on the Louisville Bats.
