Lake Erie ice fisherman may be fined for rescues

Big changes are being made when it comes to fishermen who find themselves stranded on frozen lakes.

According to the Ottawa County Sheriff's Department rescues will now be coordinated by area fire departments. They will decide if fishermen will face civil penalties or be billed for services. The sheriff's department will decide on criminal charges.

This comes after last February TMs rescue of 130 fishermen on Lake Erie that cost more than $245,000.
