New coach Shurmur conducts Browns' 1st practice

BEREA, Ohio (AP) - Pat Shurmur held his long-awaited first practice as an NFL head coach with the Cleveland Browns. He was glad it included kicker Phil Dawson and a sideline fullof newly signed players. Dawson, wearing a baseball cap and a smile after signing his tender agreement as Cleveland's franchise player, watched Saturday as Shurmur ran a spirited practice of nearly 2 1/2 hours. Before that, the Browns announced a long list of various free agent signings and all their draft choices except No. 1 pick Phil Taylor. Quarterback Colt McCoy began implementing Shurmur's newly installed West Coast offense. Linebacker Scott Fujita and the defense lined up in a new 4-3 scheme.
