Whitmer's Webb Verbally Commits to Toledo

Whitmer running back Jody Webb runs for a touchdown against Start in the 2011 season. Webb verbally committed to UT Wednesday.

He's been one of the best high school running backs in the state of Ohio over the last two years and today, we learn he'll continue his football career within the 419 area code.

Whitmer senior Jody Webb verbally committed to attend and play football for the University of Toledo on Wednesday.

"It feels real good," Webb said. "They really made me feel like I was home."

Which isn't too far from the truth, given Whitmer is less than ten minutes away from UT.

Webb becomes the third player from this year's Whitmer squad to verbally commit to the Rockets.

First it was lineman Storm Norton, then defensive back Mark Meyers and now, Webb.

"We want to play together at the next level," Webb said. "It really made me lean more towards (committing) than anything else."

Another big factor in his decision, Springfield alum and UT All-American Eric Page, entering the NFL draft.

"It's opening up options for other people and I can be one of those people."
