Defiance, Perkins advance to District Final

Defiance senior Anthony Kidston shoots a 3-ptr vs Scott

In a battle of the Bulldogs, Defiance came out victorious over Scott, 73-53 in Thursday's Division II District Semi Final at BGSU.

The blue and white Bulldogs opened a double digit lead in the 1st Quarter before Scott closed it to four at the half. That's when senior Anthony Kidston took over, scoring all of his 14 points in the second half and Defiance last year's playoff loss to the maroon and white Bulldogs.

"It's great because we get to keep playing, and with this group...that's key because they've been a joy to coach and they've been a joy to be around," said Defiance coach Kirk Lehman, whose Bulldogs are now 22-1 on the season.

In the nightcap, Sandusky Perkins defeated Wauseon 49-45 in OT.

Perkins led for the majority of the game until Indians senior Tre Henricks hit a go-ahead 3 pointer with just under four minutes left.

The Pirates answered a minute later, going to senior Michael Ebert inside to tie the game at 42. Those would be the last points scored in regulation.

In overtime, Perkins went back to their big man, who hit a lay up and was fouled, giving them a lead they would never relinquish.

"We've just made history for our school, it's our first District win," said Ebert, who finished with nine points and nine rebounds.
