Hicksville falls at state; Girls basketball begins

Hicksville QB Justin Miller warms up before the state semifinal vs Coldwater

The Hicksville football team's magical run came to an end in the Division V state semifinals on Friday night, 41-21 to Coldwater.

The Aces had the game tied at seven, but Coldwater proved too much as they put touchdown after touchdown on the scoreboard.

Meanwhile, the girls high school basketball season got underway. At Owens, rivals Lake and Northwood collided. Jordyn Taylor and the Flyers proved too much as they won 73-36. In Bowling Green, Hayley Williford and the Bobcats handled neighbor Eastwood 74-34.

While the boys season is still a week away, Central Catholic and Anthony Wayne met in an exhibition matchup.
