Local athletes sign national letters of intent

A number of local high school athletes will continue their playing careers in college and it all starts with signing on the dotted line.

Wednesday afternoon a number of female student athletes from our area signed their national letters of intent.

Down at Liberty-Benton, Caite Craft becomes the second member of her family to play basketball at The Ohio State University.

Similar to big brother Aaron, Caite de-commited from one school (Kent State) and ended up a Buckeye.

At the time she decided not to attend Kent, she did not know if Ohio State would make an offer until she actually received a phone call.

"I was running, I kid you not, running laps around the locker room," said Craft.

"(I was) up on the benches just running laps, just so excited."

Here's a list of Wednesday's other signees:

Notre Dame Academy

Cat Wells - Toledo (basketball)

Michelle DeHenning - Ashland (volleyball)

Jocelyn Uchic - Clarion (volleyball)

Lisa Urbanski - Owens (volleyball)

Rachael Dzierzak - Ohio State (swimming)

St. Ursula Academy

Cassidy Croci - New Hampshire (volleyball)

Madison Haupricht - Ashland (volleyball)

Maddie Strall - Wheeling Jesuit (volleyball)

Emma Miller - Indiana University (crew)
