If you attended the MHSAA District baseball and softball games at Saline high school on Saturday, I hope you wore sunscreen.
Six total games involving four schools, only two of which left with smiles on their faces.
On the boys side, Monroe put five runs on the board vs Ypsilanti enroute to a 7-1 win in the first semifinal. In game two, Bedford's Jackson Lamb had a rough 1st inning allowing six runs to the host school. Saline advanced with a 9-2 victory. Thirty minutes after game two, the finals were held where it was all Saline, 17-0 vs Monroe.
For the girls, Bedford and Saline took a scoreless game into extra innings, where the Mules' Jessi Werner came up with a 2-RBI double that proved to be the game winner. There was no such suspense in the Monroe-Ypsilanti contest. The Trojans won easily, 11-1. In the final, Monroe continued their hot play, shutting out Bedford 6-0 to take the title.
Regionals take place in Monroe on Saturday, June 9th.
