Toledo native shows off for NFL scouts
A Toledo native is hoping for a shot at the NFL.
Notre Dame football prospective pros took to the field Thursday afternoon at the annual Fighting Irish pro day.
Eight players worked out for scouts, but all eyes were on quarterback DeShone Kizer.
He got another chance to show the scouts why he should make it to the big league.
He also talked about what he learned playing high school football at Central Catholic.
“This is awesome,” said Kizer. “You know playing at Central Catholic was a prime opportunity to take my game to another level. Playing in two great championship runs, one ending the way we wanted and one not. Now being at the highest level and preparing to play in the NFL, I just continue to look to push the same message that I have. That's although Toledo has this bad, sour taste around it where we have a bunch of great athletes that don't make it to the next level, you can do it.”
Kizer will now go through individual workouts before next month's NFL draft in Philadelphia.
