Justin Timberlake to headline Super Bowl LII Halftime Show on NBC
Pop star Justin Timberlake announced that he has agreed to headline the Pepsi Super Bowl LII Halftime Show, which will air on NBC Feb. 4, 2018.
The Grammy Award-winning actor and musician shared the news in a funny video on Twitter Sunday night.
“I DO have the time. Half the time...#PepsiHalftime #SBLII @Pepsi @NFL @JimmyFallon @FallonTonight,” he and Fallen joked in the 21-second video.
The NFL issued a press release shortly after Timberlake published the tweet, noting that the performance will mark the third time he’ll appear on the Super Bowl Halftime stage.
It will give him the distinction of having the most appearances by an individual entertainer, with the release also stating that he previously performed at Super Bowls XXXV and XXXVII.
In 2004 Timberlake, as well as superstar Janet Jackson, stirred controversy during the Super Bowl Halftime XXXVII Show, as Timberlake exposed Jackson’s breast. While her breast was decorated in a “nipple shield,” the incident was later called “a wardrobe malfunction” by both artists.
Super Bowl LII will be held at U.S. Bank Stadium in Minnesota.
