ADRIAN, Michigan (WNWO) -- President Trump's State of the Union featured several guests of honor, including one local college student.
Adrian College Junior Haley Petrowski was invited by Michigan U.S. Representative Tim Walberg.
She attempted suicide after being cyberbullied in 2014, and has spent the time since fighting back.
Thanks to Petrowski's effort, cyberbullying will be a crime in Michigan officially in March.
"We're so in charge of our destinies and other people's destinies. We have this ability to be kind, and it's so much easier to be kind than mean to someone. I think our purpose in life is to help others, and if we can't help them, we shouldn't hurt them."
If cyberbullying were to lead to someone's suicide, it can lead to up to 10 years in prison and a $10,000 fine.
