Adrian, Michigan police investigating child sexual abuse

Victims reported to be as young as ten years of age

The Adrian, Michigan police department is investigating a sexual abuse case involving children.

The Adrian Police Department Facebook page states:

As part of an ongoing investigation into the possession, creation and publication of child sexually abusive material, the Adrian Police Department executed a search warrant on July 18 in the 1300 block of W Maumee Street in the City of Adrian.

Investigating officers were successful in locating the suspect who was lodged at the Lenawee County Jail on a single count of Possession of Child Sexually Abusive Material.

The identity of the suspect is being withheld pending formal arraignment in 2A District Court.

Additional evidence was seized from the residence and will be forwarded to the Michigan State Police Computer Crimes Unit in Lansing for forensic examination.

During the course of the investigation, Adrian Police officers learned that children were being extorted by the suspect using the mobile application Snapchat.

The suspect would reportedly demand the children provide him with graphic images of themselves or other children and would threaten them with the hacking of their personal internet accounts if they refused to do so.

Some of the victims were reported to be as young as ten years of age.

To date numerous images of yet unidentified children have been recovered.
