Attorneys for State Fair accident victims disagree with law
TOLEDO, Ohio (AP) —
Attorneys for the victims in a deadly thrill ride accident at last year's Ohio State Fair are criticizing a law they say hands inspectors a free pass from being sued
The State of Ohio and most other states give their inspectors immunity from negligence accusations.
Attorneys object to this being one reason why most lawsuits in these accidents target ride owners and manufacturers but not government-employed inspectors.
Two tentative settlements have been reached over the 2017 Ohio accident caused when a ride's rusted steel arm snapped.
