Cherry Street Mission feeds more than 2,000 for Thanksgiving

Volunteers prepare salads for thanksgiving dinner.

Toledo, Ohio (WNWO)-- There's a lot that goes into preparing Thanksgiving dinner for an average household .

It takes ten times as much work at the seafood Company.

This year at the restaurant they feed well over 1000 people.

"We got 132 turkeys, totaling about 1200pounds, we've got 650 pounds of potatoes we turn into mashed potatoes, 20 cases of broccoli, 20 cases of lettuce mixed for the salad," said Chef Brent Courson.

While the thanksgiving dinner is entirely gourmet, these aren't paying customers. Everything for them was free. For the eighth year Cherry Street Mission Ministries partnered with The real Seafood Company at the Docks in Toledo to provide Thanksgiving dinner for those in need. They have nearly 600 volunteers working behind the scenes.

All together they served over 2000 people and they needed 6 weeks to prepare for the event.

Not only is Cherry Street Mission working on Thanksgiving but every other day of the year. If you're interested in volunteering you can check out their website.
