Construction clears for Mud Hens opener

The City of Toledo is working with the Mud Hens to make sure game day travel is not slowed by construction.

TOLEDO, Ohio (WNWO) - Downtown Toledo has been a bit of a cone zone. Despite the constant construction, the city is doing its best to keep Hensville clear for opening day.

On Wednesday, construction crews removed barrels from Erie to Summit Streets. There are some curb lanes that are still closed on Summit for utility work. The City of Toledo is working closely with the Mud Hens to accommodate as best they can through the season.

“We're going to be working from Erie Street to Summit, they’re going to be doing the outside curb lanes first," said Doug Stephens, with The City of Toledo. "Then they will do the inside lanes and open up outside curb lanes while they’re working in the middle.”

They expect that project to be finished by June. Construction crews will be working before games and wrap up before them as often as possible.
