Dog causes fire in Point Place and is saved

Capone saved from fire

Fire officials say a canine may have caused a fire resulting in significant damage to a home.

The dog, Capone, is believed to have climbed on the stove in search of food at a home on Edgewater Road just before one p.m. when he accidentally turned on the stove starting the fire.

Two men who wish to remain anonymous were just passing by and happened to see the fire.

They pair said they kicked the door down rescuing the dog.

The homeowner came home and saw Toledo Fire & Rescue giving Capone oxygen.

The dog was driven to the vet for recovery from smoke inhalation.

The cause remains under investigation and damages are not known at this time.
