Nothing says spring is on the horizon quite like the ferries being able to transport you to the islands of Lake Erie!

Miller Ferry announced Thursday that their runs to and from the islands are scheduled to begin Friday. The company announced the first boat is set to leave Put-in-Bay at 2:00 p.m. and the first to leave Catawba will depart at 2:30 p.m. Those schedules are subject to change.

The start comes much earlier than in previous years thanks to the warmer weather and lack of ice prohibiting the vessels from traveling.

"Getting off to an early March start is key for the entire island this year," said Miller Ferry owner Julene Market. "There's so many exciting new projects and so much that goes into them. Whether it's supplies or workers, we're very happy to help further the progress."
