Smashing windows, dragging bodies, and stopping fires.

All in a days work for firefighters, but what makes them do such a dangerous job?

"I don't think the average person realizes the fire department does so much more than put out fires. Dealing with family tragedies, the emotional state that we're in on all kinds of runs," said Brian Phillips with the Toledo Fire Department.

FireOps 101 was an event held Friday by the Toledo Fire Department in conjunction with Sylvania Township, Maumee and City of Perrysburg fire departments to help show the tough aspects of the job to the public.

"I think you get a different perspective from our job, it's so much to it that people don't realize that they really get a good look at the details of everything," said Meredith Hill, a Toledo Firefighter and event organizer.

The event took local media and community leaders through five different stations including extraction, CPR, rapid intervention team, search and rescue and a live burn.
