Local preschoolers fill police cruisers with Toys for Tots

Epworth preschoolers helped fill Ottawa Hills police cruisers with toys for kids in need (WNWO).

TOLEDO, Ohio (WNWO) -- A group of preschoolers is making sure all children have a present to open this Christmas.

Epworth Preschool students filled up some cruisers today for the Ottawa Hills Police Department.

Each one brought a gift to donate to Toys for Tots.

The goal is to teach kids the importance of giving to those who are less fortunate.

"Children are all so loving and caring and it's never too early to start teaching children how they can help others," said Jane Lyon, Epworth Preschool director.

This was the first year Epworth Preschool assisted Ottawa Hills police in their Toys for Tots efforts.

"Every year we want to help the kids that are a little bit less fortunate in Northwest Ohio, I think everybody wants to have a great holiday and I think if we can contribute to that just a little bit to help make their season a little brighter then we want to do that," said Chief John Wenzlick, Ottawa Hills Police Department.

The preschool collected more than 150 toys.
